1. MMHIN Virtual Platform Terms of Use
1.1. The Materials and Manufacturing in Healthcare Network (the “Network”) have set up the Materials and Manufacturing in Healthcare Virtual Innovation Hub (the “Virtual Hub”) managed through LCN (at https:///www.materialsinhealth.org) to provide a portal to collate and coordinate collaborations and solutions for solving healthcare challenges and bringing positive impact on patients.
1.2. The Virtual Hub has been developed to provide a single route of access for registered users (“Partners”) - academics, clinicians, and industry (designers, suppliers, and manufacturers) to respond to healthcare needs and challenges (“Challenges”) across the UK, particularly in the London region; by way of publishing Challenges and option to provide comments, either open to all Partners or privately to the publisher. The Virtual Hub has been developed to also provide a platform for Partners to showcase innovation news, upcoming events, and upcoming grants, (collectively “Innovation Stories”).
1.3. The terms and conditions below apply to the use of the Virtual Hub, the submission of Innovation Stories, Challenges, and “open” comments/responses to the two. Use of the Virtual Hub, and submission of Innovation Stories, Challenges and comments shall be deemed to the acceptance of all conditions established in this document. If a participant does not accept the terms of this document, they should not submit either an Innovation Story, a Challenge or a comment.
2. Submission of Innovation Stories, Challenges and Comments
2.1. Network Partners, individuals and organisations, wishing to submit an Innovation Story, a Challenge or a comment must first do so on a non-confidential basis via the Virtual Hub.
2.2.If a Partner submits a joint Innovation Story/Challenge/comment, it will be assumed that the submitting Partner acts on behalf of and with the authority of the other Partners.
2.3.Upon registering Innovation Stories and Challenges, Partners accept that the Network may request further information in relation to the Innovation Stories and/or Challenges. .
3. Review
3.1. The Network will complete an initial review of the Innovation Stories and Challenges submitted by Partners through the Virtual Hub before they are published for all Partners to view. The review shall be undertaken at a high level to consider matters such as:
3.1.1. the submitted Innovation Story or Challenge relates to materials and manufacturing healthcare challenges and innovations.
3.2. The Network reserves the right to decide at its discretion whether an Innovation Story or a Challenge meets the minimum requirement. Partners acknowledge that the Network, in its sole discretion, may select or reject an Innovation Story or a Challenge or any portion thereof.
3.3. If in the Network’s opinion, the Innovation Story or Challenge submitted meets the initial minimum requirement, the Network will publish it openly for other partners to view and comment.
4. Confidential Information and Intellectual Property
4.1. The Network requests all interested Partners to withhold from revealing sensitive technical information about their products and services, and to only include non-confidential information upon registering and completing their profiles that are viewable for all partners.
4.2. By submitting an Innovation Story (that is intended to be viewable by Partners and non-Partners), a Challenge or a comment (both intended to be viewable by all Partners only), you represent that the response does not contain and will not be deemed to contain any confidential information of any kind. The Network accepts no obligations, and no obligations whatsoever shall be created, relating to the submission of and the content of a proposal through the Virtual Hub. This includes, but is not limited to, no obligation on the Network to maintain confidentiality, consider as proprietary, acknowledge receipt, review, respond or send back a participant's proposal.
4.3. The Network may share the Innovation Story with Affiliates or publish or disclose publicly any Innovation Story or in any way it sees fit. By submitting an Innovation Story, Partners agree that the Trust have the right to use the information free of charge and as the Network sees fit, including to disclose it to Affiliates for full use and disclosure as they see fit.
4.4. By submitting Innovation Stories and Challenges, Partners warrant that they have the right to disclose the information to the Network, that the disclosure does not breach any contract or obligation between the Partner and a third party and that, to the best of the participants' knowledge the possession or use of the information by the Network or any Affiliates does not misappropriate or infringe any intellectual property rights of others.
5. Personal Data
5.1. Upon registration as a Partner, you agree that personal data provided, including name, email address, job title, job organisation, profile image, biography, research interest and social media account links will be viewable to all other Partners. Name, job title, job organisation, partial biography, research interest and profile image will be viewable by non-Partners (i.e., publicly available).
5.1.1. Minimum personal data required for registration are first and last name, brief biography, and email – all other information is optional. See our Privacy Policy for more information on the storage of personal data.
5.2. The Network does not anticipate that the submission of Innovation Stories, Challenges and comments will require further processing of personal data. Partners can be directed to another Partner’s profile via their posts. The use of the Virtual Hub involves the processing of personal data. Partners agree that the Network may process personal data for the purposes of assessing the submission of Innovation Stories, Challenges and comments and contacting Partners as required.
6. Governing Law
6.1. The Virtual Hub and these terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
