As a network that strives to encourage cross-sector healthcare innovation, the UCL Core Team and Advisory Group have been scoping a Dragon’s Den style competition such that our Partners, which includes academics, clinicians and industry members, use our Virtual Hub Platform (this website) to form collaborations on solving healthcare challenges.

We are pleased to announce that the competition will go ahead with confirmed funding:

  • UCL Grand Challenges: ~£5,000 for event organisation

  • UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering: £5,000 for a Dragon’s Den prize

  • UCL Translational Research Office (TRO): £5,000 for a Dragon’s Den prize

The monetary prizes are designed for teams on pilot research, which can then feed into further funding applications. In addition to this, UCL TRO and UCL Partners have agreed to provide various training that assists research translation and market access. Together, the funding pot and training will make an immense prize package for our Dragon’s Den winners.

We are waiting to hear from other potential partners on further prizes. Once we have, we will announce the full format and eligibility of the Dragon’s Den competition. We will also announce an in-person event where finalists will showcase their proposals and our Partners and interest member can network.
